Memorial Day

Memorial Day never really meant much for me until about 2 years ago when I first experience the result of war; seeing many of my friends die in combat. Since then, I have always tried to remind people what Memorial Day really means and more recently, I am trying to visit all the graves of the fallen warriors of Lima Company. I still feel the pain from our combat tour now almost 2 years past.

Also with this past weekend, our company had a monument dedicated to all the Marines and Sailors who served with Lima Company during our deployment. It has a lot more meaning than just our company; it also represents why we went with symbolisms for the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Check out the story here.

May we never forget the sacrifices being made by all men and women who have fought and died for this country.

What a beautiful commemoration for the brothers of your heart.

I was at a singles retreat and on Monday we began the day with a Memorial Day service at the flag pole - those that had served in the military stood facing the crowd, giving their name, branch of service and conflict they'd served in. After the two eldest of the group raised the flag, prayer was lifted up for those that were serving (by name - we were asked to list those we knew currently serving or killed in action). It was quite moving.

I don't know if I said this before or not, but reading your blog and seeing your photos has really touched me. Thank you for sharing so openly about your struggles - it's given me a glimpse what some of the members of our congregation could be going through, and helps me to pray and support them through encouragement.

By the way - they're having another singles retreat over Columbus Day weekend - it should be a beautiful time to see New England in all its foliage and splendor. I think you might enjoy the laser tag, climbing wall, hike of Mt. Monadnock and the kayaking - it seems up your alley. www.monadnockbible.org

I've been pretty pleased with the Sony Alpha 100 so far. The main reasons I decided on this one, was I had two lenses that fit it already, and storage....

But its pretty simple to use, and I've had pleasing results with the controls ect.

I would reccomend just buying the body though, and NOT the kit lense that comes with it, research, and buy a seperate lense. The one it comes with isn't a very good one.
